Spring is finally here. We’re almost sure your to-do list already feels a mile long, but we have a couple things that will save you some headaches and keep you comfortable in the months to come. The weather is going to start heating up in West Columbia and the last thing you want is to uncover is that you’re facing an AC repair. Going through this simple checklist now might save you from sweating this summer.
- Inspect Your Air Filter and Ducts
Swapping your air filter makes it to almost every one of our lists of pointers because it's so important and so often overlooked. If your air filter is dirty, your system will have to work harder to keep you cozy. This costs you more money and causes more work on the system which diminishes the life and efficiency of your system. Your ducts and registers are another piece of the puzzle that is often neglected as well. While you're spring cleaning, remove the covers from your registers and vacuum inside them. While you have the covers pulled off, soak them in mild dish soap, give them a scrub and switch them after they've dried.
- Clean Your Outdoor Unit
Keep any outdoor units cleared of debris such as grass clippings, leaves or plant overgrowth. This debris can clog your system and cause it to reduce its efficiency.
- Arrange Your Annual AC Tune-Up
This is where we enter the picture to help you tackle that to-do list. An annual AC tune-up lengthens the life of your system and keeps it running at peak efficiency. Spring is the ideal time to set up your tune-up so any problems or AC repair that needs to be made can be taken care of before the hot summer months. The cost of a tune-up is a minimal investment into the life of your system. Think of it as giving your air conditioner an oil change.
We can't help you with the entirety of your spring to-do list, but we can help you with all things involving your home comfort. We want to make sure you’re cool and comfortable all summer long. If you have any questions about spring cleaning, your system or need to schedule your annual AC tune-up, please give us a call at 803-265-4208.
